English Translation
ʿAffān narrated to us, Ḥammād narrated to us, Thābit informed us, that ʿImrān ibn Ḥuṣayn narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Modesty is entirely good.” Bushāyr ibn Kaʿb said: ‘Some of it is weakness.’ ʿImrān became angry and said: ‘Do I not see myself narrating from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that modesty is entirely good, and you say that some of it is weakness?’ He shunned him and wanted to stop narrating to him. Then it was said to him: ‘He is as you would wish (i.e., he accepts it).’ ʿAffān narrated to us, Ḥammād narrated to us, from Ḥumayd, from al-Ḥasan, from ʿImrān ibn Ḥuṣayn, from the Prophet ﷺ, a similar report.
