English Translation

Yaḥyā ibn Ḥammād narrated to us, Abū ʿAwānah narrated to us, from Simāk ibn Ḥarb, from al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī, from ʿImrān ibn Ḥuṣayn, that a man freed six slaves of his upon his death. His heirs, who were Bedouins, came and informed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ of what he had done. He said: “Did he do that? Had we known, God willing, we would not have prayed over him.” He drew lots among them, freed two, and returned four to bondage.
