English Translation

ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Ḥārith narrated to us, Shibl ibn ʿAbbād narrated to me. And Yaḥyā ibn Abī Bukayr narrated to us, Shibl ibn ʿAbbād narrated to us — the meaning is the same. He said: I heard Abū Qazaʿah narrating to ʿAmr ibn Dīnār, from Ḥakīm ibn Muʿāwiyah al-Bahzī, from his father, who said to the Prophet ﷺ: ‘I have sworn like this’ — and he spread the fingers of his hands — ‘that you will not tell me what Allah تبارك وتعالى sent you with.’ He said: ‘Allah تبارك وتعالى sent me with Islam.’ He said: ‘And what is Islam?’ He said: ‘The testimony that there is no god but Allah and that Muḥammad is His servant and messenger, and to establish the prayer and pay the zakāh. They are two brothers, helpers of one another. Allah عز وجل does not accept repentance from anyone who associates partners with Him after his Islam.’ I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, what is the right of one’s wife upon him?’ He said: ‘You feed her when you eat, clothe her when you clothe yourself, do not strike the face, do not insult her, and do not abandon her except within the house.’ Then he said: ‘Here you will be gathered! Here you will be gathered! Here you will be gathered!’ — three times — ‘riding, walking, and on your faces. You will come on the Day of Resurrection as seventy nations; you are the last of the nations and the most honored to Allah تبارك وتعالى. You will come on the Day of Resurrection with muzzles over your mouths. The first thing that will speak for any of you is his thigh.’ Ibn Abī Bukayr said: He gestured with his hand toward al-Shām and said: ‘To here you will be gathered.’
