Hadith #347

English Translation
Ismā‘īl ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us, from Bahz ibn Ḥakīm, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: I said: ‘O Messenger of Allāh, our nakedness (‘awrah) — what may we expose of it and what must we guard?’ He said: ‘Guard your nakedness except from your wife or what your right hand possesses.’ I said: ‘What if people are among one another?’ He said: ‘If you can ensure that no one sees it, then let no one see it.’ I said: ‘What about when one of us is alone?’ He said: ‘Allāh tabāraka wa ta‘ālā is more deserving of one’s modesty than people.’”
