حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ جَوْنِ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَى عَلَى

بَيْتٍ قُدَّامُهُ قِرْبَةٌ مُعَلَّقَةٌ فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الشَّرَابَ فَقَالُوا إِنَّهَا مَيْتَةٌ فَقَالَ دِبَاغُهَا ذَكَاتُهَا

English Translation

Affān narrated to us, Hammām narrated to us, Qatādah narrated to us, from al-Ḥasan, from Jawn ibn Qatādah, from Salamah, that the Prophet ﷺ came upon a house in front of which was a waterskin hanging. He asked for a drink, and they said: ‘It is from a dead animal.’ He said: ‘Its tanning is its slaughter (purification).’
