Hadith #369

English Translation

Aswad ibn ‘Āmir narrated to us, Shu‘bah narrated to us, from Qatādah, from al-Ḥasan, from a man whom he named, from Salamah ibn al-Muḥabbeq, that the Prophet ﷺ came upon a household and asked for water. There was a waterskin containing water, and they said: ‘It is from a dead animal, O Messenger of Allāh.’ He said: ‘The purification of a hide is its tanning.’”
