English Translation

Ismā‘īl narrated to us, from Yūnus, from al-Ḥasan, from Salamah ibn al-Muḥabbiq, that a man went out on a military expedition with his wife’s slave-girl and had sexual relations with her. The matter was mentioned to the Prophet ﷺ, who said: “If he forced her, she is free and he owes her mistress a similar [slave-girl]. If she consented, she is his slave and he owes her mistress a similar [slave-girl].” Ismā‘īl said on another occasion: ‘A man was on a military expedition.’ Hushaym narrated to us, from Yūnus, from al-Ḥasan, from Salamah ibn al-Muḥabbiq, from the Prophet ﷺ, and he mentioned its meaning. Muḥammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, Shu‘bah narrated to us, from Qatādah, from al-Ḥasan, from Salamah ibn al-Muḥabbiq, from the Prophet ﷺ, the like of it.
