حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ وَعَفَّانُ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ أَنَّ نَبِ

يَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ حَافِظُوا عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ قَالَ عَفَّانُ الصَّلَاةِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْوُسْطَى وَسَمَّاهَا لَنَا إِنَّمَا هِيَ صَلَاةُ الْعَصْرِ

English Translation
Bahz and Affān narrated to us, both saying: Abān narrated to us, Qatādah narrated to us, from al-Ḥasan, from Samurah, that the Prophet ﷺ of Allāh ﷺ said: “Guard the prayers.” Affān [said]: “the prayer and the middle prayer.” And he named it for us: it is the ‘Aṣr prayer.
