قَالَ أَبِي و حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ حَدَّثَن

َا شَيْبَانُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ وَحَدَّثَ الْحَسَنُ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ سَامُ أَبُو الْعَرَبِ وَيَافِثُ أَبُو الرُّومِ وَحَامُ أَبُو الْحَبَشِ

English Translation
[Imam Aḥmad’s] father said: Ḥusayn narrated to us, Shaybān narrated to us, from Qatādah, who said: al-Ḥasan narrated from Samurah that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ used to say: “Sām is the father of the Arabs, Yāfith is the father of the Romans, and Ḥām is the father of the Abyssinians.”
