English Translation

Muḥammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, Shu‘bah narrated to us, from Salamah ibn Kuhayl, from Hilāl ibn Yasāf, from Samurah, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: “When I narrate a hadith to you, do not add to it.” And he said: “Four of the best words — and they are from the Qur’ān — it does not matter with which of them you begin: Subḥān Allāh, al-Ḥamdu lillāh, Lā ilāha illa Allāh, and Allāhu Akbar.” Then he said: “Do not name your boy Aflaḥ, nor Najīḥ, nor Rabāḥ, nor Yasār.”
