حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَتْ لَهُ سَكْتَتَانِ سَكْتَةٌ حِينَ يَفْتَتِحُ الصَّلَاةَ وَسَكْتَةٌ إِذَا فَرَغ
َ مِنْ السُّورَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَرْكَعَ فَذُكِرَ ذَلِكَ لِعِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ فَقَالَ كَذَبَ سَمُرَةُ فَكَتَبَ فِي ذَلِكَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ إِلَى أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ فَقَالَ صَدَقَ سَمُرَةُ
English Translation
Yazīd narrated to us, Ḥammād ibn Salamah informed us, from Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl, from al-Ḥasan, from Samurah ibn Jundub: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had two pauses of silence: one when he opened the prayer, and one when he finished the second sūrah before bowing. This was mentioned to ‘Imrān ibn Ḥuṣayn, who said: Samurah has lied. So he wrote about that to Medina to Ubayy ibn Ka‘b, who said: Samurah spoke the truth.
