Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَن حُمَيْدٍ عَن الْحَسَنِ عَن سَمُرَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَسْكُتُ سَكْتَتَيْنِ إِذَا دَخَلَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَإِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْ الْقِرَاءَةِ فَأَنْكَرَ ذَلِكَ عِمْرَانُ بْنُ حُصَيْنٍ فَكَتَبُوا إِلَى أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ يَسْأَلُونَهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَكَتَبَ أَنْ صَدَقَ سَمُرَةُ
English Translation
Abū Kāmil narrated to us, Hammād narrated to us, from Ḥumayd, from al-Ḥasan, from Samurah: the Prophet ﷺ used to observe two pauses of silence: when he entered the prayer and when he finished the recitation. ‘Imrān ibn Ḥuṣayn disputed this, so they wrote to Ubayy ibn Ka‘b asking him about it, and he wrote back: Samurah spoke the truth.
