حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَن حُمَيْدٍ عَن الْحَسَنِ عَن سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَسْكُتُ سَكْتَتَيْنِ إِذَا دَخَلَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَإِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْ الْقِرَاءَةِ فَأَنْكَرَ ذَلِكَ عِمْرَانُ بْنُ حُصَيْنٍ وَكَتَبُوا إِلَى أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِمْ أَنْ صَدَقَ سَمُرَةُ
English Translation
‘Affān narrated to us, Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Ḥumayd, from al-Ḥasan, from Samurah ibn Jundub: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to observe two pauses of silence: when he entered the prayer and when he finished the recitation. ‘Imrān ibn Ḥuṣayn disputed this, and they wrote to Ubayy ibn Ka‘b in Medina, who wrote back: Samurah spoke the truth.
