حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ يُونُسَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْعَلَاءِ بْنُ الشِّخِّيرِ حَدَّثَنِي أَحَدُ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ وَلَا أَحْسَبُهُ إِلَّا قَدْ رَأَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى يَبْتَلِي عَبْدَهُ بِمَا أَعْطَاهُ فَمَنْ رَضِيَ بِمَا قَسَمَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَهُ بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَهُ فِيهِ وَوَسَّعَهُ وَمَنْ لَمْ يَرْضَ لَمْ يُبَارِكْ لَهُ
English Translation
Ismā‘īl narrated to us, from Yūnus, Abū al-‘Alā’ ibn al-Shikhkhir narrated to me, one of the Banū Sulaym narrated to me — and he thinks he had seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ — : ‘Allah تبارك وتعالى tests His servant with what He has given him. Whoever is content with what Allah عز وجل has decreed for him, Allah will bless him in it and expand it for him. And whoever is not content, He will not bless him.’
