English Translation

Yaḥyā ibn Sa‘īd narrated to us, from Shu‘bah, ‘Iyāḍ Abū Khālid narrated to me, who said: There was a dispute between two neighbors of Ma‘qil ibn Yasār, and an oath fell upon one of them. I heard Ma‘qil ibn Yasār say: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Whoever swears a false oath to seize by it his brother’s property will meet Allah while He is wrathful with him.’ (Ya‘lā ibn ‘Ubayd narrated to us, Ismā‘īl, meaning Ibn Abī Khālid, narrated to us, from Ismā‘īl al-Awdī, from the daughter of Ma‘qil al-Muzinī, who said: When my father became critically ill, Ibn Ziyād came to him — and she related the ḥadīth.)
