حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَجِيدِ الثَّقَفِيُّ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ مَعْقِلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ وَهُوَ رَافِعٌ غُصْنًا مِنْ أَغْصَانِ الشَّجَرَةِ بِيَدِهِ عَنْ رَأْسِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُبَايِعُ النَّاسَ فَبَايَ
عُوهُ عَلَى أَنْ لَا يَفِرُّوا وَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَلْفٌ وَأَرْبَعُ مِائَةٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَمَانٍ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ خَالِدٍ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ الْأَعْرَجِ { يَدُ اللَّهِ فَوْقَ أَيْدِيهِمْ } قَالَ أَنْ لَا يَفِرُّوا

English Translation
‘Abd al-Wahhāb ibn ‘Abd al-Majīd al-Thaqafī Abū Muḥammad narrated to us, Khālid narrated to us, from al-Ḥakam ibn ‘Abd Allāh al-A‘raj, from Ma‘qil ibn Yasār: That he was present with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at al-Ḥudaybiyyah, and the Prophet ﷺ was holding up a branch of the tree with his hand above the head of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while the people were giving their pledge of allegiance (bay‘ah). They pledged not to flee, and they numbered at that time one thousand four hundred. (‘Abd Allāh narrated to us, ‘Ubayd Allāh ibn ‘Umar al-Qawārīrī narrated to us, Yaḥyā ibn Yamān narrated to us, from Sufyān, from Khālid, from al-Ḥakam ibn al-A‘raj (regarding the verse): ‘The Hand of Allah is over their hands’ — he said: (This refers to) not fleeing.)
