English Translation

Zayd ibn al-Ḥubāb narrated to us, he said: Ibn Thawbān narrated to us, from his father, from Makhūl who said: Abū ʿĀʾishah narrated to me — and he was a companion of Abū Hurayrah — that Saʿīd ibn al-ʿĀṣ invited Abū Mūsā al-Ashʿarī and Ḥudhayfah ibn al-Yamān رضي الله تعالى عنهما. He said: How did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say the takbīr in the ʿEid al-Fiṭr and al-Aḍḥā? Abū Mūsā said: He would say four takbīrāt, like his takbīr over the funeral prayers. Ḥudhayfah confirmed him. Abū ʿĀʾishah said: I never forgot after that his statement: ‘Like his takbīr over the funeral prayers.’ And Abū ʿĀʾishah was present at that gathering.
