Hadith #111
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ الشَّحَّامُ حَدَّثَنِي مُسْلِمُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ أَنَّهُ مَرَّ بِوَالِدِهِ وَهُوَ يَدْعُو وَيَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ الْكُفْرِ وَالْفَقْرِ وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ قَالَ فَأَخَذْتُهُنَّ عَنْهُ وَكُنْتُ أَدْعُو بِهِنَّ فِي دُبُرِ كُ
لِّ صَلَاةٍ قَالَ فَمَرَّ بِي وَأَنَا أَدْعُو بِهِنَّ فَقَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ أَنَّى عَقَلْتَ هَؤُلَاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ قَالَ يَا أَبَتَاهُ سَمِعْتُكَ تَدْعُو بِهِنَّ فِي دُبُرِ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ فَأَخَذْتُهُنَّ عَنْكَ قَالَ فَالْزَمْهُنَّ يَا بُنَيَّ فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَدْعُو بِهِنَّ فِي دُبُرِ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ

English Translation
It was narrated from Muslim ibn Abi Bakra that he passed by his father while he was supplicating and saying: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief, poverty, and the punishment of the grave.' He said: 'I took these words from him and used to supplicate with them after every prayer. He passed by me while I was supplicating with them and said: "O my son, where did you learn these words?" I said: "O father, I heard you supplicate with them after every prayer." He said: "Then hold on to them, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say them."'
