حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ غِيَاثٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو

نَعَامَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ قَالَ كَانَ أَبُونَا إِذَا سَمِعَ أَحَدًا مِنَّا يَقُولُ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ يَقُولُ إِهِي إِهِي صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ فَلَمْ أَسْمَعْ أَحَدًا مِنْهُمْ يَقُولُ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

English Translation

It was narrated from the son of 'Abdullah ibn Mughaffal that he said: 'Our father, when he heard one of us say Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim, would say: Hmm, hmm. I prayed behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Abu Bakr, and 'Umar, and I did not hear any of them say Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim.'
