حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ وَحَجَّاجٌ قَالَا أَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ عَنْ سَلَّامِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِخْوَانُكُمْ فَأَحْسِنُوا إِ
لَيْهِمْ أَوْ فَأَصْلِحُوا إِلَيْهِمْ وَاسْتَعِينُوهُمْ عَلَى مَا غَلَبَكُمْ وَأَعِينُوهُمْ عَلَى مَا غَلَبَهُمْ قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سَلَّامَ بْنَ عَمْرٍو وَرَجُلًا مِنْ قَوْمِهِ وَقَالَ حَجَّاجٌ وَأَصْلِحُوا

English Translation
It was narrated from Mutarrif ibn 'Abdullah al-Shakhir, from one of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with him), that a ruler in Kufa said to him: 'Wealth is a trial.' He replied: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Wealth is not a trial; rather that which is a trial is when you withhold from the one who has a right to it.' Or words to that effect.
