Hadith #265

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ عَنْ حَيَّان
َ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا أَنَا أَتَرَامَى بِأَسْهُمِي فِي حَيَاةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَاللَّهِ إِذْ كُسِفَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَنَبَذْتُهُنَّ وَسَعَيْتُ أَنْظُرُ مَا حَدَثَ كُسُوفِ الشَّمْسِ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَإِذَا هُوَ رَافِعٌ يَدَيْهِ يُسَبِّحُ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَيَحْمَدُ وَيُهَلِّلُ وَيُكَبِّرُ وَيَدْعُو فَلَمْ يَزَلْ كَذَلِكَ حَتَّى حُسِرَ عَنْ الشَّمْسِ فَقَرَأَ سُورَتَيْنِ وَرَكَعَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Samura (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'While I was shooting arrows during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, the sun was eclipsed. I threw them aside and hurried to see what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would do about the solar eclipse. I found him raising his hands, glorifying Allah, praising Him, saying the tahlil and takbir, and supplicating. He continued until the eclipse cleared, then he recited two surahs and performed two rak'ahs.'
