English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Samura (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: 'O 'Abd al-Rahman, do not seek authority, for if you are given it after asking, you will be left to it. But if you are given it without asking, you will be helped in it. And if you take an oath and then see something better, do what is better and make expiation for your oath.'
