Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُبَارَكٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى حَدَّثَنِي حَيَّةُ التَّمِيمِيُّ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لَا شَيْءَ فِي الْهَامِ وَالْعَيْنُ حَقٌّ وَأَصْدَقُ الطِّيَرِ الْفَأْلُ
English Translation
It was narrated from the father of Hayya ibn Habis al-Tamimi that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'There is no substance in hamah,' — that is, the belief that the owl carries the soul of a murdered person crying for vengeance. 'The evil eye is real. The best of omens is a good word that one of you hears.'
