حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ شَيْخًا مِنْ قَيْسٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ جَاءَنَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعِنْدَنَا بَكْرَةٌ صَعْبَةٌ لَا يُقْدَرُ عَلَيْهَا قَالَ فَدَنَا مِنْهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَمَ
سَحَ ضَرْعَهَا فَحَفَلَ فَاحْتَلَبَ قَالَ وَلَمَّا مَاتَ أَبِي جَاءَ وَقَدْ شَدَدْتُهُ فِي كَفَنِهِ وَأَخَذْتُ سُلَّاءَةً فَشَدَدْتُ بِهَا الْكَفَنَ فَقَالَ لَا تُعَذِّبْ أَبَاكَ بِالسُّلَّى قَالَهَا حَمَّادٌ ثَلَاثًا قَالَ ثُمَّ كَشَفَ عَنْ صَدْرِهِ وَأَلْقَى السُّلَّى ثُمَّ بَزَقَ عَلَى صَدْرِهِ حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ رُضَاضَ بُزَاقِهِ عَلَى صَدْرِهِ

English Translation
It was narrated from a man of the Qays tribe from his father that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ visited him and milked a difficult she-camel for him. When his father died, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came, uncovered his chest, and breathed on him and spat lightly on his face. His father's colour changed — he turned red — and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'I have honoured him.'
