Chain of Narration (Isnad)

حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ عَنْ أَبِي مَلِيحٍ عَنْ نُبَيْشَةَ الْهُذَلِيِّ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُلْتُ إِنَّا كُنَّا نَعْتِرُ عَتِيرَةً لَنَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَمَا تَأْمُرُنَا قَالَ قَالَ اذْبَحُوا فِي أَيِّ شَهْرٍ مَا كَانَ وَبَرُّوا اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى وَأَطْعِمُ

وا قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا كُنَّا نُفَرِّعُ فَرَعًا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَمَا تَأْمُرُنَا قَالَ فِي كُلِّ سَائِمَةٍ فَرَعٌ تَغْذُوهُ مَاشِيَتُكَ فَإِذَا اسْتَحْمَلَ ذَبَحْتَهُ وَتَصَدَّقْتَ بِلَحْمِهِ قَالَ أَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ عَلَى ابْنِ السَّبِيلِ فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ خَيْرٌ

English Translation

It was narrated from Nubaysha al-Hudhali (may Allah be pleased with him) that he asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: 'We used to perform the 'atira sacrifice in the pre-Islamic period. What do you command us?' He said: 'Slaughter in any month. Do good deeds for the sake of Allah and feed others.'
