Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ قَالَ ابْنُ عَوْنٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَنْ جَمِيلٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَلِيحٍ عَنْ نُبَيْشَةَ قَالَ
ذُكِرَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كُنَّا نَعْتِرُ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ قَالَ اذْبَحُوا لِلَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى فِي أَيِّ شَهْرٍ مَا كَانَ وَبَرُّوا اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَأَطْعِمُوا

English Translation
It was narrated from Nubaysha (may Allah be pleased with him) that mention was made to the Prophet ﷺ that people used to perform the 'atira in the pre-Islamic period. He said: 'Slaughter for Allah, Blessed and Exalted, in whatever month it may be, do good for the sake of Allah, and feed others.'
