Hadith #308
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْمُخَارِقِ قَالَ خَرَجْنَا حُجَّاجًا فَلَمَّا بَلَغْنَا الرَّبَذَةَ قُلْتُ لِأَصْحَابِي تَقَدَّمُوا وَتَخَلَّفْ
تُ فَأَتَيْتُ أَبَا ذَرٍّ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي فَرَأَيْتُهُ يُطِيلُ الْقِيَامَ وَيُكْثِرُ الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ مَا أَلَوْتُ أَنْ أُحْسِنَ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ رَكَعَ رَكْعَةً أَوْ سَجَدَ سَجْدَةً رُفِعَ بِهَا دَرَجَةً وَحُطَّتْ عَنْهُ بِهَا خَطِيئَةٌ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'I visited him while he was praying and I saw him prolong the standing and multiply the bowing and prostrations. I mentioned this to him. He said: I did my best to excel. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Whoever bows one bowing or makes one prostration, Allah raises him a degree and removes from him a sin.'
