Hadith #448
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حُسَيْنٍ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ قَالَ كُنْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى حِمَارٍ وَعَلَيْهِ بَرْذَعَة
ٌ أَوْ قَطِيفَةٌ قَالَ فَذَاكَ عِنْدَ غُرُوبِ الشَّمْسِ فَقَالَ لِي يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ هَلْ تَدْرِي أَيْنَ تَغِيبُ هَذِهِ قَالَ قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَإِنَّهَا تَغْرُبُ فِي عَيْنٍ حَامِئَةٍ تَنْطَلِقُ حَتَّى تَخِرَّ لِرَبِّهَا عَزَّ وَجَلَّ سَاجِدَةً تَحْتَ الْعَرْشِ فَإِذَا حَانَ خُرُوجُهَا أَذِنَ اللَّهُ لَهَا فَتَخْرُجُ فَتَطْلُعُ فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُطْلِعَهَا مِنْ حَيْثُ تَغْرُبُ حَبَسَهَا فَتَقُولُ يَا رَبِّ إِنَّ مَسِيرِي بَعِيدٌ فَيَقُولُ لَهَا اطْلُعِي مِنْ حَيْثُ غِبْتِ فَذَلِكَ حِينَ لَا يَنْفَعُ نَفْسًا إِيمَانُهَا

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah دلوالله said to him at sunset: "O Abu Dharr, do you know where this goes?" He said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "It goes and sets in a muddy spring, then travels until it prostrates to its Lord beneath the Throne. When the time for it to emerge comes, Allah permits it and it rises. But a day will come when it is told: 'Return to where you came from,' and it will rise from the west."
