حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ابْنِ الْقِبْطِيَّةِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ كُنَّا إِذَا صَلَّيْنَا خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أ
َشَارَ أَحَدُنَا إِلَى أَخِيهِ مِنْ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَمِنْ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ فَلَمَّا صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَا بَالُ أَحَدِكُمْ يَفْعَلُ هَذَا كَأَنَّهَا أَذْنَابُ خَيْلٍ شُمْسٍ إِنَّمَا يَكْفِي أَحَدَكُمْ أَوْ لَا يَكْفِي أَحَدَكُمْ أَنْ يَقُولَ هَكَذَا وَوَضَعَ يَمِينَهُ عَلَى فَخِذِهِ وَأَشَارَ بِأُصْبُعِهِ يُسَلِّمُ عَلَى أَخِيهِ مِنْ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَمِنْ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ

English Translation
It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the people would gesture to each other to the right and left during the taslim. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished the prayer he said: 'What is the matter with one of you doing this — as if they are tails of wild horses? Is it not enough for one of you to say like this — and he placed his right hand on his thigh.'
