Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سِنَانِ بْنِ أَبِي سِنَانٍ الدِّيْلِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيِّ قَالَ خَرَجَنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قِبَلَ حُنَيْنٍ فَمَرَرْنَا بِسِدْرَةٍ فَقُلْتُ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ اجْعَلْ لَنَا هَذِهِ ذَ
اتَ أَنْوَاطٍ كَمَا لِلْكُفَّارِ ذَاتُ أَنْوَاطٍ وَكَانَ الْكُفَّارُ يَنُوطُونَ بِسِلَاحِهِمْ بِسِدْرَةٍ وَيَعْكُفُونَ حَوْلَهَا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ هَذَا كَمَا قَالَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ لِمُوسَى { اجْعَلْ لَنَا إِلَهًا كَمَا لَهُمْ آلِهَةً } إِنَّكُمْ تَرْكَبُونَ سُنَنَ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Waqid al-Laythi (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ toward Hunayn and we passed by a lote tree. Some of the men said: «O Messenger of Allah, make for us a Dhat Anwat like theirs.» The Prophet ﷺ said: «Allahu Akbar! These are the ways. By the One in whose hand is my soul, you said what the Children of Israel said to Musa: «Make for us a god as they have gods.» I swear you will follow the ways of those before you.»'
