English Translation

It was narrated from Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'A man entered the mosque of Damascus and said: "O Allah, comfort my loneliness, have mercy on my being far from home, and provide me with a righteous companion." Abu al-Darda' heard him and said: "If you are truthful, then I am more happy about what you said than you are. I heard the Messenger of Allah ß say: "The scholars are the heirs of the Prophets, and the Prophets did not leave behind dinars or dirhams, rather they left behind knowledge. Whoever gains it, gains a great fortune.""'
