Hadith #129
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا مَيْمُونٌ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّا
دٍ عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ لَيَلْتَمِسُ مَرْضَاةَ اللَّهِ وَلَا يَزَالُ بِذَلِكَ فَيَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لِجِبْرِيلَ إِنَّ فُلَانًا عَبْدِي يَلْتَمِسُ أَنْ يُرْضِيَنِي أَلَا وَإِنَّ رَحْمَتِي عَلَيْهِ فَيَقُولُ جِبْرِيلُ رَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَى فُلَانٍ وَيَقُولُهَا حَمَلَةُ الْعَرْشِ وَيَقُولُهَا مَنْ حَوْلَهُمْ حَتَّى يَقُولَهَا أَهْلُ السَّمَوَاتِ السَّبْعِ ثُمَّ تَهْبِطُ لَهُ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ

English Translation
It was narrated from Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Indeed a servant seeks the pleasure of Allah and continues in that, and Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says to Jibril: Verily so-and-so, my servant, seeks to please Me — know that My mercy is upon him. Then Jibril says: The mercy of Allah is upon so-and-so. And the bearers of the Throne say it, and those around them say it, until it is said throughout the heavens, and then it descends to earth.'
