Hadith #226
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَائِلٍ عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ بِأَرْضِنَا أَعْنَابًا نَعْ
صِرُهَا أَفَنَشْرَبُ مِنْهَا قَالَ لَا فَرَاجَعْتُهُ فَقَالَ لَا ثُمَّ رَاجَعْتُهُ فَقَالَ لَا فَقُلْتُ إِنَّا نَسْتَشْفِي بِهَا لِلْمَرِيضِ قَالَ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ بِشِفَاءٍ وَلَكِنَّهُ دَاءٌ

English Translation
It was narrated from Tariq ibn Suwayd al-Hadrami (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'O Messenger of Allah, in our land there are grapes that we press. May we drink from them?' He said: 'No.' He asked again, and he said: 'No.' He asked again and said: 'We use it as medicine for the sick.' He said: 'It is not a medicine; it is a disease.'
