حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُصْعَبٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى عَنْ عَبْدِ الل

َّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ الرُّؤْيَا الصَّالِحَةَ مِنْ اللَّهِ وَالْحُلْمَ مِنْ الشَّيْطَانِ فَإِذَا حَلَمَ أَحَدُكُمْ حُلْمًا يَخَافُهُ فَلْيَبْصُقْ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَلْيَتَعَوَّذْ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ الشَّيْطَانِ فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَضُرُّهُ

English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'A good dream is from Allah, and a bad dream is from Satan. When one of you has a dream he fears, let him spit to his left three times and seek refuge in Allah from Satan. Then it will not harm him.'
