حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي
كَثِيرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ بِنَا فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ وَيُسْمِعُنَا الْآيَةَ أَحْيَانًا وَيُطَوِّلُ فِي الْأُولَى وَيُقَصِّرُ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ وَكَانَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ فِي صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ يُطَوِّلُ فِي الْأُولَى وَيُقَصِّرُ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ وَكَانَ يَقْرَأُ بِنَا فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ
Isnad Chain
English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in the first two rak'ahs of the Zuhr prayer and let them hear a verse occasionally. He would lengthen the first rak'ah and shorten the second. He used to do the same in the Fajr prayer, lengthening the first.
