حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ مُبَارَكٍ عَنْ حَيْوَةَ وَعَتَّابٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَنَا حَيْوَةُ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْمَعَافِرِيِّ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ قَوْمِهِ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ حَضَرَ ذَلِكَ عَامَ الْمَضِيقِ أَنَّ عُبَادَةَ بْنَ الصَّامِتِ أَخْبَرَ
مُعَاوِيَةَ حِينَ سَأَلَهُ عَنْ الرَّجُلِ الَّذِي سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عِقَالًا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَقْسِمَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اتْرُكْهُ حَتَّى يُقْسَمَ وَقَالَ عَتَّابٌ حَتَّى نَقْسِمَ ثُمَّ إِنْ شِئْتَ أَعْطَيْنَاكَ عِقَالًا وَإِنْ شِئْتَ أَعْطَيْنَاكَ مِرَارًا

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Ubadah ibn al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) — from an account about the man who asked Mu'awiyah about the man who requested a head-rope before the spoils were divided — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Leave him until we divide the spoils, then if you wish we will give you a head-rope, and if you wish we will give you its equivalent in cash.'
