English Translation
It was narrated from 'Ubadah ibn al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, whenever he saw the new crescent moon, would say: 'Allahu Akbar, al-hamdu lillah, la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah. Allahumma inni as'aluka khayra hadha al-shahr, wa a'udhu bika min sharri al-qadar wa min su' al-hashr — Allah is greatest, all praise be to Allah, there is no power or strength except with Allah. O Allah, I ask You for the good of this month, and I seek refuge with You from the evil of fate and the evil of the gathering on the Day of Resurrection.'
