حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ عَنِ ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ جَاءَتْ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي تَصَدَّقْتُ عَلَى أُمِّي بِجَارِيَةٍ فَمَاتَتْ أُمِّي وَبَقِيَتْ الْجَارِيَةُ ف
َقَالَ قَدْ وَجَبَ أَجْرُكِ وَرَجَعَتْ إِلَيْكِ فِي الْمِيرَاثِ قَالَتْ فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ عَلَى أُمِّي صَوْمُ شَهْرٍ أَفَأَصُومُ عَنْهَا قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَتْ فَإِنَّ أُمِّي لَمْ تَحُجَّ أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهَا قَالَ حُجِّي عَنْ أُمِّكِ

English Translation
It was narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I gave my mother a slave-girl as charity, and my mother died but the slave-girl survived.' He said: 'Your reward has been confirmed and she has returned to you through inheritance.' She said: 'My mother had a month of fasting to make up — shall I fast on her behalf?' He said: 'Yes.' She said: 'My mother never performed Hajj — shall I perform Hajj on her behalf?' He said: 'Perform Hajj on behalf of your mother.'
