حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ عَنْ أَبِي تَمِيمَةَ الْهُجَيْمِيِّ عَنْ رِدْفِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوْ مَنْ حَدَّثَهُ عَ
نْ رِدْفِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ رِدْفَهُ فَعَثَرَتْ بِهِ دَابَّتُهُ فَقَالَ تَعِسَ الشَّيْطَانُ فَقَالَ لَا تَفْعَلْ فَإِنَّهُ يَتَعَاظَمُ إِذَا قُلْتَ ذَلِكَ حَتَّى يَصِيرَ مِثْلَ الْجَبَلِ وَيَقُولُ بِقُوَّتِي صَرَعْتُهُ وَإِذَا قُلْتَ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ تَصَاغَرَ حَتَّى يَكُونَ مِثْلَ الذُّبَابِ

English Translation
It was narrated from the riding companion of the Prophet ﷺ, or from someone who narrated from him, that he was riding behind the Prophet ﷺ when his mount stumbled. He said: 'May the devil perish!' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Do not say that, for when you say it the devil grows great until he becomes like a mountain and says: By my power I knocked him down. But when you say Bismillah, he shrinks until he becomes like a fly.'
