Hadith #198
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا مِنْ بَنِي لَيْثٍ قَالَ أَسَرَنِي نَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ ا
لنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَكُنْتُ مَعَهُمْ فَأَصَابُوا غَنَمًا فَانْتَهَبُوهَا فَطَبَخُوهَا قَالَ فَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ النُّهْبَى أَوْ النُّهْبَةَ لَا تَصْلُحُ فَأَكْفِئُوا الْقُدُورَ

English Translation
It was narrated from a man from the Layth clan that some Companions of the Prophet ﷺ captured him and he was with them. They took some sheep and distributed them as plunder and cooked them. He then heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Plunder is not permissible. Overturn the pots!'
