حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ أَوْ مَرْثَدِ بْنِ عِيَاضٍ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْهُمْ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ الل
َّهِ أَخْبِرْنِي بِعَمَلٍ يُدْخِلُنِي الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ هَلْ مِنْ وَالِدَيْكَ مِنْ أَحَدٍ حَيٌّ قَالَ لَهُ مَرَّاتٍ قَالَ لَا قَالَ فَاسْقِ الْمَاءَ قَالَ كَيْفَ أَسْقِيهِ قَالَ اكْفِهِمْ آلَتَهُ إِذَا حَضَرُوهُ وَاحْمِلْهُ إِلَيْهِمْ إِذَا غَابُوا عَنْهُ

English Translation
It was narrated from a man who asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: 'O Messenger of Allah, tell me of an action that will enter me into Paradise.' He said: 'Is either of your parents still alive?' He asked him this several times. He said: 'No.' He said: 'Then give water.' He said: 'How do I give water?' He said: 'Provide them with its means when they are present, and carry it to them when they are absent.'
