حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ مُزَيْنَةَ أَوْ جُهَيْنَةَ قَالَ كَانَ أَصْحَابُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّ
ى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا كَانَ قَبْلَ الْأَضْحَى بِيَوْمٍ أَوْ بِيَوْمَيْنِ أَعْطَوْا جَذَعَيْنِ وَأَخَذُوا ثَنِيًّا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ الْجَذَعَةَ تُجْزِئُ مِمَّا تُجْزِئُ مِنْهُ الثَّنِيَّةُ

English Translation
It was narrated from a man from Muzaynah or Juhaynah that the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ would, when it was one or two days before the Eid al-Adha, give two young sheep and take one mature sheep in exchange. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'A young sheep suffices for the same purpose as a mature one.'
