حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُبَارَكُ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَس
َنُ أَنَّ شَيْخًا مِنْ بَنِي سَلِيطٍ أَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُكَلِّمُهُ فِي شَيْءٍ أُصِيبَ لَنَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَإِذَا هُوَ قَاعِدٌ وَعَلَيْهِ حَلْقَةٌ قَدْ أَطَافَتْ بِهِ وَهُوَ يُحَدِّثُ الْقَوْمَ عَلَيْهِ إِزَارُ قُطْنٍ لَهُ غَلِيظٌ فَأَوَّلُ شَيْءٍ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ وَهُوَ يُشِيرُ بِإِصْبَعَيْهِ الْمُسْلِمُ أَخُو الْمُسْلِمِ لَا يَظْلِمُهُ وَلَا يَخْذُلُهُ التَّقْوَى هَاهُنَا التَّقْوَى هَاهُنَا يَقُولُ أَيْ فِي الْقَلْبِ

English Translation
It was narrated from an elder from Banu Saleet that he said: 'I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to speak to him about something that had been taken from us in pre-Islamic times. I found him sitting with a circle of people around him, addressing them while wearing a thick cotton loincloth. The first thing I heard him say while gesturing with two fingers: A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim — he neither wrongs him nor abandons him. Piety is...'
