وَجَدْتُ فِي كِتَابِ أَبِي بِخَطِّ يَدِهِ حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي هِنْدٍ عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي جَبِيرَةَ بْنِ الضَّحَّاكِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ عَنْ عُمُومَةٍ لَهُ قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَ
لَّمَ وَلَيْسَ أَحَدٌ مِنَّا إِلَّا لَهُ لَقَبٌ أَوْ لَقَبَانِ قَالَ فَكَانَ إِذَا دَعَا رَجُلًا بِلَقَبِهِ قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ هَذَا يَكْرَهُ هَذَا قَالَ فَنَزَلَتْ { وَلَا تَنَابَزُوا بِالْأَلْقَابِ }

English Translation
It was narrated from the uncles of Abu Jubayr ibn al-Dahhak al-Ansari that the Prophet ﷺ came to them and every one of them had one or two nicknames. When he called a man by his nickname and they said: 'O Messenger of Allah, he dislikes that,' the verse was revealed: 'And do not call each other by offensive nicknames.'
