English Translation
It was narrated from Hudhayfa (may Allah be pleased with him) through Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla that Hudhayfa asked a village headman for water and was brought a silver vessel. He threw it at the man, then turned to the people and apologized, saying: 'I only did that deliberately because I had forbidden him before. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from wearing brocade and silk, and from gold and silver vessels, and said: "It is for them in this world and it is for us in the Hereafter."'
