Hadith #577
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى حَدَّثَنِي لَيْثٌ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ قَاصُّ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْ
دِ الْعَزِيزِ عَنْ أَبِي صِرْمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ أَنَّهُ قَالَ حِينَ حَضَرَتْهُ الْوَفَاةُ قَدْ كُنْتُ كَتَمْتُ عَنْكُمْ شَيْئًا سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لَوْلَا أَنَّكُمْ تُذْنِبُونَ لَخَلَقَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى قَوْمًا يُذْنِبُونَ فَيَغْفِرُ لَهُمْ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that when death approached him, he said: I used to conceal from you something I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: 'Were it not that you sin, Allah the Blessed and Exalted would create a people who sin, and then He would forgive them.'
