Hadith #72
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ أَبِي دَاوُدَ الْأَعْمَى عَنْ بُرَيْدَةَ الْخُزَاعِيِّ قَالَ قُلْنَا
يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ عَلِمْنَا كَيْفَ نُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْكَ فَكَيْفَ نُصَلِّي عَلَيْكَ قَالَ قُولُوا اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ صَلَوَاتِكَ وَرَحْمَتَكَ وَبَرَكَاتِكَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا جَعَلْتَهَا عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ

English Translation
It was narrated from Buraidah al-Khuza'i (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'We said: "O Messenger of Allah, we know how to greet you — so how do we invoke prayers upon you?"' He said: 'Say: "O Allah, bestow Your prayers and mercy and blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You bestowed them upon Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Majestic."'
