Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُطَرِّفٍ عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُبَيْرِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَائِشَةَ تَقُولُ كَانَ يَمُرُّ بِنَا هِلَالٌ وَهِلَالٌ مَا يُوقَدُ فِي بَيْتٍ
مِنْ بُيُوتِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَارٌ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا خَالَةُ فَعَلَى أَيِّ شَيْءٍ كُنْتُمْ تَعِيشُونَ قَالَتْ عَلَى الْأَسْوَدَيْنِ التَّمْرِ وَالْمَاءِ

English Translation
It was narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she was asked whether fire was ever lit in the houses of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She said: 'O nephew, on what would we live? We lived on the two black things — dates and water.'
