حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا دَاوُدُ عَنْ عَامِرٍ عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ مُتَّكِئًا عِنْدَ عَائِشَةَ فَقَالَتْ يَا أَبَا عَائ

ِشَةَ أَنَا أَوَّلُ مَنْ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ هَذِهِ قَالَ ذَلِكَ جِبْرِيلُ لَمْ أَرَهُ فِي صُورَتِهِ الَّتِي خُلِقَ فِيهَا إِلَّا مَرَّتَيْنِ رَأَيْتُهُ مُنْهَبِطًا مِنْ السَّمَاءِ سَادًّا عِظَمُ خَلْقِهِ مَا بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ

English Translation

It was narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: 'I was the first to ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about this.' He said: 'That was Jibril. I have never seen him in his original form in which he was created except twice. I saw him descending from the sky, his immense frame filling the space between the heavens and the earth.'
