حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَاحِدِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ قَالَ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَتَوَجَّهَ نَحْوَ صَدَقَتِهِ فَدَخَلَ فَاسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ فَخَرَّ سَاجِدًا فَأَطَالَ السُّجُودَ حَتَّى ظَنَنْتُ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَدْ قَ
بَضَ نَفْسَهُ فِيهَا فَدَنَوْتُ مِنْهُ فَجَلَسْتُ فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ مَنْ هَذَا قُلْتُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ مَا شَأْنُكَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ سَجَدْتَ سَجْدَةً خَشِيتُ أَنْ يَكُونَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَدْ قَبَضَ نَفْسَكَ فِيهَا فَقَالَ إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام أَتَانِي فَبَشَّرَنِي فَقَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَقُولُ مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيْكَ صَلَّيْتُ عَلَيْهِ وَمَنْ سَلَّمَ عَلَيْكَ سَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَسَجَدْتُ لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ شُكْرًا

English Translation
'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf (رضي الله عنه) said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out and I followed him until he entered a grove of palm trees and prostrated, and his prostration was very long until I feared that Allah had taken his soul or spirit. I came and looked at him, and he raised his head and said: What is the matter, O 'Abd al-Rahman? I mentioned what I had seen to him. He said: Jibril (عليه السلام) said to me: Shall I not give you glad tidings? Allah (عز وجل) says to you: Whoever sends blessings upon you, I send blessings upon him. And whoever sends salams upon you, I send salams upon him.'
